THE RETREAT ARC

Day 1
The Hero’s Journey
Explore how life unfolds toward psychological and spiritual growth, and how we can get lost along the way.

Day 2
Spaciousness in Challenge
Our responses to stress fundamentally determines our life. Explore what it means to be spacious in challenge, and why practicing it can be so hard.

Day 3
Beyond the Personal Self
How can we move beyond the limited ways we’re engaging our life? Explore what it means to digest the past and what happens to us when we do.

Day 4
Love & Manifestation
What does it mean to evolve to a higher state of being? How would it feel? And how can I work to embody that potential, one day at a time?
In all spiritual traditions, there are two realms of instruction: the Path and the View. The Path consists of the practices that form the experiential core of the tradition. The View is the map given to the seeker to both clarify the goal and help interpret what happens on the Path in ways that accelerate growth.
Over 8 sessions, this immersion clarifies the View of the yogic tradition, while connecting it with the tradition’s experiential core: asana, pranayama and meditation. It is an invitation to see your self and your life with greater clarity and to deepen your understanding of the transformation that is possible through the practices of yoga.
Transformation require presence.
To be present we need space to tune out and methods to tune in.

Who is Joey?
Joey is a holistic yoga teacher, focused on teaching people methods to effect state change.
Over the last 12 years, Joey has developed a unique teaching that incorporates the embodied practices of yoga with insights from ancient traditions, contemporary science and developmental psychology.
After pursuing a wide arrange of projects, becoming a father helped him to clarify his calling: empowering others to bring more steadiness, inspiration, and meaning into their lives.
Central to this process is a key insight: that our lives are a function of the stories we tell. These stories are grounded in our lived experience, but what we experience depends on our energetic state.
Change your state, change your story.
Change your story, change your life.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can you tell me more about the daily schedule?
On the arrival day, we’ll practice from 17:00-19:00 and then enjoy dinner.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the first session will begin at 8:00, and brunch will follow directly after at 10:30. The second session will begin at 16:00, and dinner will follow directly after at 18:30.
On Sunday, the morning program will be the same with everyone departing after brunch.
Can I come to the retreat if I have not do a lot of yoga and/or have not practiced with you before?
This retreat is designed for people who are interested in pursuing psychological and personal growth through yogic practices. You don’t need to be a deeply experienced (or even regular) practitioner or ‘perform’ in any way. The only requirement is that you come with an open mind and a willingness to fully participate in the retreat experience.
If you would like to familiarise yourself more with my teaching before the retreat, you can find online classes on my website.
How do I get to the center with public transportation?
You take a train to Ehrenhausen an der Weinstraße. From there, you will take a taxi – which I am happy to arrange – to the vineyard.
What kind of food can I expect?
You can expect excellent meals made with fresh, local/organic ingredients. The truly exceptional breakfast buffet includes eggs, breads, cheeses, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats cakes, muesli / porridge, as well as various spreads. During the day, fruit and teas are available. Unless otherwise specified, the dinners will be vegetarian, though meat can be prepared on request.

What are the outdoor / freetime options?
The Weingut is surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, forests and streams. There are numerous walking paths directly from the centre, as well as beautiful gorge closeby, and within the vineyard grounds there are plenty of quiet spots perfect for reflexing or reflection.
For participants interested in more rest and relaxation between sessions, the wellness area includes a beautiful sauna, lounge areas and an outdoor pool that is heated to 22 degress. With good weather, sunbathing is possible, even in October!
How much do I need to interact with the group?
Outside of the shared meals and sessions, there is no pressure to engage the group. Between the your room, the sauna / pool, the grounds of the Weingut and the surrounding forests and hills, there is plenty of space to do your own thing.
