Core Part 2:  Breath —> Pre-Holidays 2025

Besides negotiating the force of gravity, eating air – also known as breathing – is the most fundamental thing your body is designed to do.

You breathe about 20,000 times a day, yet most of us have very little awareness of the muscles involved, the ways we use (or don’t use) them, and the tremendous power that breathing has on our health, mood and state.

In the context of yoga, conscious breathing is used to induce state change, simultaneously deepening our capacity to sense the more subtle aspects of our experience, while also increasing the flow of prana through the body.

In this 4-week course we will explore:

• The anatomy of breathing — the diaphragm and pelvic floor
• The science of breathing — what actually happens when you breath, and how this affects your nervous system
• The yoga of breathing — bhandas, energetics and state change
• The qualities of breath-centred practice
